How to set your initial page on Google Chrome

This morning you opened Google Chrome and instead of the usual home page, the one with previews of all your most visited sites, and links to the applications installed in your browser, you have found an unknown website?

If you want to learn how to put the initial page of Google Chrome bringing it to the default state, the first step you need to accomplish is click on the menu button located on the top right (the icon with the three horizontal lines) and select the Settings item from the menu that appears.

Put a check mark next to the menu item Open the New Tab page located under the heading startup and restart your browser. If everything went the right way, Chrome should show again its default home page.


If you want to restore the initial page of Google Chrome as your home page browser by setting one or more Web sites (instead of thumbnails of the sites you visit most often), you have to click on the Menu button located at the top right and return to the Settings of Chrome.

On the page that opens, put a check mark next to the menu item Open a specific page or set of pages and click the Set pages to type the addresses of one or more pages to use as the home page of Chrome. To save the changes, click OK.


You can also change the page that the browser displays when you open a new tab. How can you do this? Putting the check mark next to Show Home button in the settings menu and clicking the Change link located next to new tab page .
In the box that opens , put a check mark next to Use the New Tab page to restore the default page ( the one with the thumbnails of the sites and the app icons ) or select the menu item Open this page to enter a custom URL. Finally, click the OK button and the changes will become effective.

If a promotional software has changed the home page of Chrome, is likely to have also installed extensions unwanted within the browser. To resolve this issue, click on the menu button of Chrome, select the Tools> Extensions from the menu that appears and identifies the list of installed add-ins in the browser software codes to remove.
To delete unwanted Chrome extensions, then click the Trash icon placed next to their name and you’re done.
